Harvested in the cool of the early morning from winemaker Sam Rose’s vineyard on the banks of the Wairau River. The chilled bunches were destemmed into traditional open top fermenters and held for a period of cold maceration prior to fermentation. Delicate hand plunging was used during fermentation on skins to add structure and length. The skins were gently pressed off by basket press with the wine aged in French oak barriques for a minimum of 9 months prior to final blending and finishing.

This wine displays rich concentrated aromas of cassis, leather and savoury spice. The palate is mouth filling and smooth with generous fruit weight and ripe supple tannins resulting in a generous structure and great length.
